Meridith “Butch” H. Muncil, 74, of Little Sioux, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

Per Butch’s wishes, cremation was accorded. There will be no visitation or services.  Burial will be private in Gabriels, New York. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

He was born on November 20, 1946 in Star Lake, New York to Robert and Arlene Muncil and raised in nearby Rainbow Lake, New York until the family relocated to Poland, New York, where they owned and operated the local store and gas station.

Upon completion of attending Poland Central School, Butch enlisted in the United States Navy becoming a Naval Veteran of the Vietnam War having served on the USS Saratoga.

"Butch" as he was fondly known by all, loved life and lived it to the fullest; a man full of wisdom and wit with compassion for all; once you met him you had a friend for life.

In 1972 he began his career as a long-haul trucker that span over 45 years.  When he wasn't hauling coast to coast, he enjoyed his motorcycle and his biker brothers and sisters.

He lived his motto:  "let the good times roll" and for those of us left to celebrate his life, we are grateful for that.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 27 years, Debra; and brothers, Robert Muncil and Richard Shew.

Surviving him are his very special nieces, Samantha (Scott) Matt, Katrina (Jeff) Becker, and his special nephew, Tim (Aimee) Shew all of Remsen, New York, all of whom he adored. Also surviving are nieces, Berta, Tracy, and Susie, and nephew, Rob along with all of his great-nieces and nephews and their children; and special friends from Little Sioux, Iowa, Randy Foland, Bev Johnson, and Kevin Peasley; along with his first wife and most endeared friend of 53 years, Cheri Blim, of Auburn, New York.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Randy, Bev and Kevin along with the VA of Omaha, Nebraska; and the Staff at Hospice.

Contributions in Butch's name can be made to a charity of one’s choice or to your local American Legion or VFW.
