Marlyn Sue Kunze, 70, of Ute, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at UnityPoint Health- St. Luke’s Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa with Pastor Marsha Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Marlyn Sue was born February 9, 1950, in Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Milton Clarion and Burnetta Jean (Larson) Melby. She grew up in Soldier and graduated in 1968 from East Monona.

Marlyn Melby and Ron Kunze were united into marriage February 1, 1969 in Soldier, Iowa.

She worked for Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska for one year. Marlyn and Ron moved back to Soldier, Iowa and owned and operated the lumber yard where she did the accounting for 8 years. She later worked various jobs at local businesses.

Marlyn enjoyed playing cards especially solitaire, and loved cooking Thanksgiving Dinners every year for her family. She enjoyed watching the animal planet channel. She loved her cat companion. Marlyn was a Breast Cancer Survivor.

She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Jamie (Lynette Cory) Kunze of Moorhead, Iowa and Nikki (Guy Dean) Coleman of Soldier, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher Kunze, Tim (Trisha) Kunze, Andrew Kunze, Zach Nuzum, Tori Nuzum, Maddie Healy, Abi Coleman, Lukas Avery, Wyatt Kunze and Hunter Bentz; great-grandchildren, Max Kunze, Everett Kunze, and Logan Kunze; two brothers, Bryan (Pam) Melby of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kevin (Bonnie) Melby of Soldier, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Clarion and Burnetta Jean (Larson) Melby; one sister, Sherry Little; and two infant brothers, Keith Melby and Ricky Melby.
