Jimie Jon Skarin, 58, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada from complications due to Covid-19.

Private family burial will occur next to his parents at the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa.

Jimie was born November 22, 1961 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Lester D. and Joyce A. (Lundquist) Skarin. The family moved to Onawa, Iowa in 1969 where Jimie attended West Monona Schools. Jimie worked at the Happy Chef Restaurant after school. After getting his GED early, he moved to Las Vegas where Jimie worked numerous jobs including the Plaza, Dotty’s, and CORF of Las Vegas, driving patient transport vans.

Jimie was a talented artist, and an avid collector of orange glass and many friends. He loved his trips to Lake Mead with his dog, Linda, and watching Judge Judy. His wonderful sense of humor (so like his father’s) and joyful chuckle will be missed by all.

Jimie was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Joyce Skarin; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Ester Skarin; maternal grandparents, Chester and Marie Lundquist; brother-in-law, John Vaughn; and his beloved pet companion, Linda.

Survivors include Jimie’s best friend, Randy Correll of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters, Roxanne Vaughn of Omaha, Nebraska and Kim Clemon of Wahoo, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Joshua Vaughn of Onawa, Iowa, Emily Vaughn of Omaha, Nebraska, Cassie Jansen of Ankeny, Iowa, Jake Jansen of Des Moines, Iowa, Camille (Jackson) Roberson of Columbia, South Carolina, Austin and Alli Clemon of Wahoo, Nebraska; great-niece, Alyssa Vaughn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; great-nephew, Jaxson Wolterman of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and good friends.
