Carolyn Mae McCunn, 82, of Onawa, Iowa passed away December 17, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Hospice Chaplain Dale Wolf officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed- Due to Covid -19 restrictions masks are required). Private Family Burial will be held at a later date in the Jordan Cemetery, Rural Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Carolyn Mae was born on November 10, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Gordon Lyle and Ina Mae (Barr) Andrews. She graduated from Stennett High School, Stennett, Iowa in 1956. She then went on to a business college for two years.
Carolyn Mae (Andrews) and Newt McCunn were united into marriage September 1, 1956 in Fort Hood, Texas. To this union three children were born: Donna, Jeffrey, and Michelle.
She was a secretary for Monona County Mutual for over 20 years. She coached girls’ softball for many years. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, playing bridge, cards, board games, and loved anything and everything chocolate. She also had a jewel tea collection.
Carolyn was a member on the Park and Recreation Board in Onawa, Community Liaison at West Monona School, and served on the election committee. She was also a member of the Onawa United Methodist Church, Onawa, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Donna Mae Archer of Moorhead, Iowa, Jeffrey Carroll McCunn of Cordova, Illinois, and Michelle Ann (Scott) Hanner of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Katie (Steve) Kelly of Omaha, Nebraska, Corey Archer of Denver, Colorado, Kelsey Archer of Des Moines, Iowa, Molly McCunn of Ames, Iowa, Jakob Hanner of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Jason Hanner of Onawa, Iowa; two brothers, Ronald (Martha) Andrews of Clear Lake, Iowa and Allen (Mary) Andrews of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ina (Barr) Andrews; her husband, Newt McCunn; and son-in-law, Ronnie Archer.
