Lavonne E. Brouillette, 95, of Salix, Iowa died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Pioneer Valley Living & Rehab in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa with Father Jerome Cosgrove, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, 2018 with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa
Lavonne Ellen was born July 13, 1923 in Le Mars, Iowa the daughter of Martin Andrew and Anna (Aldrich) Delaney.
She grew up and attended school in Le Mars, IA. She and her sisters worked at the Battery Building in Sioux City. She also worked for Douglas Aircraft in California during WWII where she assembled aircraft parts.
Lavonne and Errol “Skinny” Brouillette were united in marriage on February 27, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. Five sons were born to this union, Denny, Jerry, Doug, Jeff, and Bob. The couple farmed their entire life and they passed the farm to their son, Denny in 1978 and now a grandson. The couple was proud that the farm was named a century farm in 2007.
Lavonne and Skinny raised their family on the farm where they worked hard and provided for their family. Lavonne was a wonderful Mother who always helped on the farm, raised a garden and chickens, and kept everything in order by all the unseen duties of a farm wife and mom. She was an excellent cook who loved her family.
She was an avid baseball fan, who loved to watch the Royals. She loved traveling with her husband, especially to Florida in the winter months.
Lavonne was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Tabernacle Society in Salix, Iowa.
Survivors include five sons, Denny (Bonnie) Brouillette of Salix, IA, Jerry (Nancy) Brouillette of Lake Park, IA, Doug Brouillette of Davey, NE, Jeff (Leah) Brouillette of Salix, IA and Bob (Jane) Brouillette of Salix, IA; nine grandchildren, Marty, Andy, Jamie, Kyle, Brenden, Alex, Shane, Caleb, and Angela; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Auck of California; sisters-in-law, Ellabelle Peterson of Sloan, IA, Lois (Clayton) Holzman of Le Mars, IA, and Mary (Lyn) Grieman of Arizona; brother-in-law, Bill Tice of Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anna (Aldrich) Delaney; her husband, Errol “Skinny” Brouillette; nine brothers and sisters; and many other relatives.
