Wray Joy Buser, age 85, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at his home in Portland, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa with Pastor Craig Bock officiating. Burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy and Smith-Rhodes American Legion Post #295, Sloan, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Wray was born April 10, 1936 in Whiting, Iowa, to the late Wray L. and Doris (Remer) Buser. He honorably served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Navy.
He was united in marriage to Joyce and to this union daughter Debra and son James were born. On December 15, 1972 Wray was united in marriage to his late wife, Geneva “Jeanie” Buser. Wray and Jeanie worked together as apartment managers in several locations throughout Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado and Des Moines, Iowa before retiring and returning to Sloan, Iowa in 2012. Wray also previously served on Search and Rescue Team, Sloan EMC, and American Legion all in Sloan, Iowa.
Wray was a member of the Skein Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa.
Wray is survived by his sister, Patricia Buser Provine of Portland, Texas; son, James Wray of Onawa, Iowa; daughter, Debra Kay Nicholson and husband David, of Port Lavaca, Texas; his children's mother, Joyce, of Onawa, Iowa; niece, Tamra Sukup and husband Eldon, of Corpus Christi, Texas; niece, Cathelyn Jones, of Pflugerville, Texas; nephew, Richard Wray Jones and wife Nadine of Camden, Missouri; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Remer Buser; father, Wray L. Buser; wife, Geneva “Jeanie”Buser; step-son, Darin Todd; and step-grandson, Raymond Todd.
