Larry James Conway, 76, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.
A private burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Larry James Conway was born December 29, 1942 at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa the son of James Max and Palma Lorraine (Christianson) Conway.
Larry was baptized on March 29, 1959 at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa and also at the Onawa Evangelical Free Church in 1972.
Larry grew up and attended school in Onawa. He worked in maintenance at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa for approximately fifteen years. Larry moved back to Onawa and was a plumber for the family business “Conway Plumbing and Heating” and he eventually took over the business as owner and operator.
He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors where he loved fishing, mushroom hunting, and everything in nature. He also loved watching “cowboy shows”-A.K.A -Westerns.
His kindness shined bright through his volunteering during the Christmas season in Onawa where he could be found dressed in a red and white outfit, and listening to smiling children telling him what they wanted for Christmas.
Survivors include a daughter, Tamarah McGinnis; son, Jim Conway of Kansas City, Kansas; two granddaughters, McKenzey and Mollie Conway of Mason City, Iowa; sister, Linda (Dean) Harding of Davenport, Iowa; brother, Harold (Diane) Conway of Loveland, Colorado; uncle, Harold (Doris) Christianson of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Palma (Christianson) Conway.
