Helen “June” Young, 86, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly a long-time resident of Little Sioux, Iowa, passed away December 12, 2018, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Evangelist Dale Wolf officiating. Music selections will be “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Peace in the Valley.” Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Helen June was born November 23, 1932, the daughter of Glen and Stella (Sterner) Stewart, and was raised in the Page, Nebraska area. June graduated from High School in 1951.
She married Oscar Gerald Young on August 6, 1966, at the Glen Stewart home in Page, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Little Sioux until they moved to Onawa in 2008.
June worked in production at an aluminum factory for many years.
She was very active in the TOPS Club and the Little Sioux Homecoming Celebrations. She loved helping with community events in Little Sioux, especially the Easter Egg Hunts.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include one brother-in-law, George Young of Bellevue, NE; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Gerald Young on July 9, 2018; her parents; two brothers, Dick Stewart and Jim Stewart; and one brother-in-law, Darrell Young.
